5 Wedding Photo Tips for Picture-Perfect Memories
For couples planning their relaxed, love-filled day
Planning a wedding? Among the cake tastings, dress fittings, and venue visits, one thing you’ll treasure forever are your photographs. To help you get the most out of your wedding gallery, here are five simple but powerful tips for capturing beautiful, meaningful moments on your big day.
1. Plan Your Group Shots in Advance
Group photos can be one of the most time-consuming parts of the day. To keep things running smoothly, create a list of essential group combinations before the wedding and share it with your photographer.
Even better? Nominate a helpful guest—someone who knows both families to help round people up. This avoids delays, keeps things stress-free, and ensures no one important is missed.
2. Make Time for Couple Portraits
Your day will fly by. Set aside time (at least 30 minutes) for portraits of just the two of you. It’s not just about the photos (though they’ll be gorgeous); it’s a moment to pause, breathe, and connect.
Golden hour, just before sunset is ideal. The light is soft and romantic, and the atmosphere is perfect for relaxed, natural portraits.
3. Consider a Phone-Free Ceremony
Ask guests to put their phones away during the ceremony so they can be fully present and so your photographer gets clean, unobstructed shots.
There’s nothing worse than a sea of screens blocking the aisle or your first kiss. Your photographer will capture everything beautifully, so your loved ones can simply be there with you, distraction-free.
4. Walk Slowly & Savor the Moments
Whether you're walking down the aisle or sharing your first kiss, slow it right down. These moments go by in a blur, but when you take your time, you’ll remember them and so will your photos.
Pro tip: Hold the kiss for just a beat longer than you think you should. That little pause creates a frame-worthy shot full of feeling.
5. Be Yourselves
This is the big one. The most meaningful images come when you're simply being you. Laugh. Cry. Dance. Hug. Whatever feels real and right.
You don’t need to perform or pose perfectly. Trust your photographer to guide you gently, but let your personalities lead. The best photos are the ones that feel like you.

A Perfect Spring Wedding at Delapré Abbey – 4th May 2024
Some weddings just stay with you and this one at Delapré Abbey in Northampton is one I’ll never forget.
A relaxed couple, a beautiful setting
From the moment I arrived, I knew this was going to be a special day. The couple were so chilled and relaxed, completely present and soaking in every moment with their loved ones. That calm, joyful energy carried through the whole day - it was a dream to photograph.
The ceremony took place in Delapré Abbey’s stunning walled garden, surrounded by spring flowers, lush greenery, and that gorgeous, golden May sunshine. It was intimate, peaceful, and full of emotion.
The perfect weather (and the best sunset I’ve ever seen)
We couldn’t have asked for better weather. The sun lit up the historic Abbey and gardens all day long, creating the most beautiful light for portraits and candid moments. But the real magic came later...
As the sun began to set, the sky exploded into the most breathtaking colours—soft pinks, warm oranges, and gentle purples. I’ve seen a lot of sunsets through my lens, but this was the most beautiful I’ve ever witnessed. The golden hour portraits we captured are some of my all-time favourites. Soft, romantic, and glowing with that unmistakable spring magic.
A photographer’s dream day
As a Bedfordshire-based wedding photographer, I feel so lucky to work at venues like Delapré Abbey. It’s full of history, charm, and hidden corners perfect for relaxed portraits and natural storytelling.
But it’s always the people that make the day and this couple, their connection, and their love for the people around them made it truly unforgettable.
Planning a relaxed wedding day?
If you’re planning a laid-back, joy-filled wedding day, especially at a beautiful venue like Delapré Abbey—I’d love to hear from you. My style is all about capturing real moments, natural light, and the little in-between details that tell your story.

A Relaxed Newborn Session at Home: What to Expect
Welcoming a new baby into your home is a beautiful blur of cuddles, feeds, nappy changes, and endless love. As a newborn and family photographer, I understand how fleeting these early days can be and I'm here to help you capture these precious moments in the comfort of your own home.
Why Choose an In-Home Newborn Photography Session?
In-home newborn photography sessions offer a relaxed and baby-led environment. There's no pressure and no need to rush. We take our time, allowing time for feeds, cuddles, and changes (because let's be honest, there's usually a lot of that!). Being in your own space means everyone feels more comfortable, resulting in authentic and heartfelt images.
What to Expect During the Session
These lifestyle newborn sessions are all about documenting your family in your natural environment, just as you are. I focus on capturing real, heartfelt moments: the tiny toes, the snuggles, the way you look at your baby when you think no one's watching. Siblings and pets are always welcome! Their presence adds so much personality and fun to the session. Whether it's a cheeky big brother, a curious toddler, or a dog who just wants in on the action, these interactions are often the most joyful and memorable. During the session, I love to move between a few different rooms for variety — your living room, bedroom and especially the baby's nursery if you'd like. These spaces each have their own feel and help tell the story of your family's life at home during this special time.
What Should you Wear?
One question I get asked all the time is: What should we wear to a newborn session? My advice is to keep it simple and comfortable. Neutral colours work beautifully and help create a soft, timeless feel. Avoid logos or bold prints that can distract from the connection and emotion in your images. Most importantly, wear something that makes you feel good and relaxed. It's about capturing you, just as you are.
Ready to Book Your Newborn Session?
If you're looking for a relaxed newborn photo shoot at home filled with genuine connection and natural moments, an in-home session might be just right for you. I'd love to chat and answer any questions you have. Get in touch to reserve your spot and let's capture this beautiful new chapter together.

📸 A Fun and Relaxed Extended Family Photo Session in Bedford 📸
Capturing the laughter, love, and real connection within a family is one of my absolute favourite things about being a family photographer in Bedford. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful extended family during a fun and relaxed session – and it truly was a joy!
Why Extended Family Sessions Are So Special
There’s something magical about photographing extended family groups. The energy, the bonds between siblings, the joy between grandparents and grandchildren – it all makes for beautifully natural moments. My goal is always to create a relaxed environment where everyone feels comfortable, especially the kiddies. When children are in a familiar setting and feel at ease, that’s when the genuine smiles and true personalities shine through. ❤️
A Comfortable Setting for Natural Moments
For this session, we chose a location familiar to the family, which made all the difference. Familiar surroundings help children (and adults!) feel more relaxed, leading to authentic and candid photographs. Whether it's running around in a garden, playing peek-a-boo, or simply cuddling up with Mum and Dad, these little moments are what create timeless memories.
What to Expect During an Extended Family Photo Session
My approach to extended family photography is very natural and playful. I give light direction when needed, but most of the time, I simply encourage families to interact with each other – hug, laugh, run, explore! These spontaneous interactions often result in the most treasured photographs.
Each session typically includes:
A mix of posed extended family portraits and candid moments
Plenty of opportunities for smaller group shots (siblings, grandparents, parents with children)
A relaxed, stress-free atmosphere
Approximately 60 fully edited digital images delivered via a private online gallery
