Some weddings just stay with you and this one at Delapré Abbey in Northampton is one I’ll never forget.
A relaxed couple, a beautiful setting
From the moment I arrived, I knew this was going to be a special day. The couple were so chilled and relaxed, completely present and soaking in every moment with their loved ones. That calm, joyful energy carried through the whole day - it was a dream to photograph.
The ceremony took place in Delapré Abbey’s stunning walled garden, surrounded by spring flowers, lush greenery, and that gorgeous, golden May sunshine. It was intimate, peaceful, and full of emotion.
The perfect weather (and the best sunset I’ve ever seen)
We couldn’t have asked for better weather. The sun lit up the historic Abbey and gardens all day long, creating the most beautiful light for portraits and candid moments. But the real magic came later...
As the sun began to set, the sky exploded into the most breathtaking colours—soft pinks, warm oranges, and gentle purples. I’ve seen a lot of sunsets through my lens, but this was the most beautiful I’ve ever witnessed. The golden hour portraits we captured are some of my all-time favourites. Soft, romantic, and glowing with that unmistakable spring magic.

As a Bedfordshire-based wedding photographer, I feel so lucky to work at venues like Delapré Abbey. It’s full of history, charm, and hidden corners perfect for relaxed portraits and natural storytelling.
But it’s always the people that make the day and this couple, their connection, and their love for the people around them made it truly unforgettable.
